Here's a rather odd but potentially interesting one. According to Variety, Aussie actor Eric Bana has signed on to play Elvis Presley, with Danny Huston in negotiations to play Richard Nixon in Elvis & Nixon. If that weren't unexpected enough, the film will also mark the directorial debut of Cary Elwes.
The movie is about a Dec. 21, 1970, visit that Elvis Presley paid to Richard Nixon at the White House. The meeting was initiated by Elvis Presley, who wrote Richard Nixon a six-page letter requesting a visit and suggesting that he be made a "Federal Agent-at-Large" in the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs. Elvis Presley brought with him family photos and a Colt 45 pistol as a personal gift to the president.
Cary Elwes co-wrote the screenplay along with Joey Sagal and Hanala Sagal. The movie will shoot soon.
