The cast of RIPD is coming together, with the long-attached Ryan Reynolds already joined by Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon and Stephanie Szostak, and now Weeds star Mary-Louise Parker has joined them, according to Variety.
The film is based on the graphic novel by Peter M. Lenkov and is about a ghostly police unit comprised of cops killed in the line of duty, entitled the Rest in Peace Department. Mary-Louise Parker will play the head of RIPD, who must explain the unit to a newcomer played by Ryan Reynolds, who agrees to service in return for being able to investigate who it was whole killed him. Jodie Foster apparently showed interest in the part before eventually passing and it being offered to Parker.
Robert Schwentke is directing, but it isn't known when production will begin on RIPD yet (an autumn shoot is expected though). The film comes to theaters June 28th, 2013.
