Jennifer Garner To Play Miss Marple!

The sleuth is getting younger and rebooted

The Agatha Christie estate is normally incredibly protective over the author's characters, but Disney has closed a deal for the rights to Miss Marple for a contemporary big screen adventure, which rather than having the character as a little old lady, will take her back to her 30s. Screenwriter Mark Frost (Fantastic Four) will write the script, for what Disney hopes will be a female version of the Sherlock Holmes franchise.

So who will play a young Miss Marple? Well, Deadline says that Jennifer Garner has officially signed on to play what will presumably be a more action-packed, adventurous Marple than we've generally seen before.

Miss Marple first appeared in an Agatha Christie short story in 1927, and has been played on the big screen before by the likes of Margaret Rutherford and Angela Lansbury, which the small screen has has Joan Hickson, Geraldine McEwan and most recently Julia McKenzie. However Garner will definitely be a very different take on the classic character.
