Social Network Tops The US Box Office

While Let Me In fails to find an audience

There was a clear leader at the US box office this weekend, with The Social Network taking twice as much as any of its competitors. David Fincher's movie, about the founding of Facebook, grossed a pretty respectable $23 million in its first weekend, a figure which may not be astounding but is creditable, especially as it only cost $50 million to make.

None of the other new entries managed to make much of a dent in the box office, with the real disappointment being Let Me In, the much buzzed about remake of Let The Right One In. Despite some very positive reviews, the unusual vampire flick only took $5.3 million in its first weekend, around the same amount of money as another new entry, Case 39, the Renee Zellwger movie that sat on the shelf for two years because the studio knew it was utterly dreadful. There really is no acounting for taste.

Take a look below for the US box office top 10 for the weekend of October 1st-3rd.
