It's not often that a DVD and Blu-ray release is announced while a film is still in the top 10 movies at cinemas, but then, Avatar is no normal movie. The film's taken a record-breaking £89 million in the UK, and should clean up when it hits home entertainment. And we've just received official word that it'll be coming to DVD and Blu-ray in Britain on April 26th.
As well as a normal release, the film will also be getting something a bit more on Blu-ray, with Fox saying that "The UK is exclusively releasing a Limited Edition Blu-ray available for pre-order only by online retailers containing 4 lenticular art cards and a ‘Survival Guide’ book."
What we don't have at the moment is any official news on the special features, although we'll get them to you when we have them. However, with talk of an Avatar extended cut cinema release this cinema, it may be that we have to wait until Christmas for the truly massive, feature packed releases.
Take a look above for the packaging for the Limited Edition Blu-ray release (there'll also be a cheaper, standard BD release for those who don't want artcards and a book) and below for the UK DVD cover. Underneath that, you can click on the Play and Amazon links to get more info at those stores.
