It seems Robert Pattison doesn't want us to think he's just a drippy vampire - he wants to be seen as a stud! He'll be shagging his way through 1890s French society in Bel Ami, based on Guy De Maupassant's novel. The film tells the story of George Duroy's (Pattinson) calculated rise to the top of Parisian high society via the beds of the city’s most glamorous and influential women. Uma Thurman plays the wife of Duroy's friend, who helps George's rise to the top, thanks to her society connections. Also in the film will be Kristin Scott Thoman, as a socialist who falls for Duroy's charms but gets too clingy in the process. Declan Donellan directs. It's out on March 2nd. You have to wonder though, does Pattinson know the name Bel Ami and his character in the movie, George Duroy, have been coopted in recent years by one of the world's most successful gay porn companies?
