If you’ve seen Juno or Thank You For Smoking, you’ll know that the soundtracks for director Jason Reitman’s movies are a bit special. The music from his latest film, Up In The Air, hits shops today (Jan 11th) and so we’ve teamed up with Rhino Records to give five of you the chance to win this great CD.
Up In The Air, which hits UK cinemas on January 15th, is already getting plenty of Oscar buzz, with Geroge Clooney as a man whose job is to fly around the US helping company’s fire people. However his cushy coast-to-coast existence is threatened when a new system is developed that means he might never have to leave the office to do his job. As he tries to convince his bosses they should still fire people face-to-face (because he wants to keep his commitment free lifestyle), he begins to re-evaluate his existence.
The soundtrack for the film includes treats from the likes of Elliott Smith and Rolfe Kent. It’s a great collection of music that Reitman likens to a character in the film, saying, “I start thinking about the music very early on. While I’m writing the script, I’m putting together a matching iTunes library. The result is a collection of songs that speaks to the nature of travel and warmth of human connection.”
